A classic vase flower.
Why we grow it
China aster has the full, old-fashioned blooms that make a simple vase look ready for company. Callistephus chinensis grows as a sun-loving annual.
Start in flats well before planting out, or direct sow in warm enough soil. Plant early: heat and shorter days trigger flowering, and late plantings can give short stems.
