Let the fence be the backdrop.
Why we grow it
Hollyhocks have a way of making a fence look as if it planned the whole garden. Double hollyhock, Alcea rosea, is usually biennial or a short-lived perennial.
Give it full sun and room to stand. Blooms usually arrive in the second year, and seed-grown doubles may surprise you with some single flowers.
