FROM THE SEED PACKET
How to grow
1 Sow
Direct seed when soil is 75°F or warmer, or transplant after frost.
2 Grow
Do not cover seed; it needs light to germinate.
3 Harvest
Avoid overwatering and keep plants 8–12 in apart.
Sunshine is its favorite neighbor.
Why we grow it
Moss rose is happy in the sort of hot, lean soil that makes some flowers sulk. Portulaca grandiflora stays low, handles drought, and asks for full sun.
Scatter the tiny seeds on the soil surface and leave them uncovered for light. Once growing, resist the urge to fuss with the watering can.
